I found a neat little model rocket kit at a yard sale for $1. It is the X wing fighter ship that Luke pilots in Star Wars. After all the pain of putting the thing together (yes, mom ended up doing most of it), we finally got to launch it. A bunch of the neighbors showed up. We launched it twice. The first time was a success. The second time the parachute broke off so the ship free fell all the way down to a coincedentally soft landing on our trampoline. It really seemed like a lot of work for just a moment of excitement, but the kids enjoyed it. It was our school kick off party in a way. We launched it the first day back to school.
